Artistic Medium

Mixed Media/Upcycled Sculpture

Bio

My first attempt at creating was as a toddler, while my mother was bringing in clothes from the clothesline. I used a new stick of butter from the breakfast table to finger paint the picture window.

I have been making use of available materials since. I love pondering what else can a discarded / found item be. My creative focus is sustainability while creating to make use of available materials to reclaim, reuse, recycle, repurpose, re-invent; to transform, give new energy and beauty to discarded items. I create using papercrete (shredded recycled paper and concrete). I repurpose plastic bottles as armatures along with found, recycled, upcycled items and mixed media along with natural elements to create sculpture totem assemblages, and wall plaques.

Sacred geometry along with the ancient spiral symbol are elements used to make visual all the energy that surrounds us. The spiral represents change, reminding us that life is not a straight line. Spirals are about new beginnings, renewal, and hope for our future.
