"Proud to be part of the first wave of the famous/infamous "baby boomers", I was born in Kansas City, MO and have lived on both sides of State Line most of my life. My bachelor's degree was in Dietetics from Mt. St. Scholastica College, Atchison, KS in 1968 followed by an Administrative Dietetic Internship at Aetna Life and Casualty in 1969 and later on a master's degree in health services administration from the University of Kansas in 1990. After many years working in nutrition I experienced a life changing diagnosis of breast Cancer in 2001 which required a year of chemotherapy/radiation and brought a serious re-examination of my life's priorities resulting in a decision to retire and pursue my true love ~ watercolor painting as a second career.
My recovery and good prognosis brought a renewed sense of energy, and I've worked hard since then to improve my skills in watercolor painting with recognition and success in juried exhibitions locally, nationally and internationally. Most recently the addition of touches of iridescent watercolor medium, metallic acrylics and archival gel pen to my watercolor compositions has been well-received with acceptance in the 2018 MO Watercolor International Exhibition in Qingdao, China and again in Barcelona, Spain in 2020.
